Beauty at Fifty

Many women look beautiful even when they cross fifty, sixty or even seventy. These women know how to combat the ravages of time.

As you grow older never allow your skin to feel or get dry. Never use soap at this age. You should instead clean your face with a good cleansing milk. Never wash your face more than it is necessary and never wash your face with very hot or very cold water. Always wash it with tap water. In the night massage cold cream into the skin, in the morning before taking your bath, massage Vaseline in the skin. In the day use a moisturizer to prevent any natural moisturizer from being lost to the atmosphere.

Extremely dry or cold weather dries up the skin so take utmost care of the skin during this weather. Mix together yolk of an egg, a teaspoon of cream found on top of boiled milk and a few drops of almond oil. Apply on the face and neck for 20 minutes face. Wash off. Do this at least 2-3 times every week. This will keep your skin supple and smooth. Before going in for your bath take equal quantities of olive, castor, almond and baby oil. Mix and bottle. Massage the body with this oil to keep it soft, smooth and shining.

At this age you get a lot of wrinkles and lines on the face. Lack of moisture and lack of proteins cause these wrinkles. If you do not eat enough proteins, your body uses up stored proteins, the result is wrinkles and sagging of facial and body muscles. Besides proteins, you should drink plenty of water and eat plenty of fruits and vegetables. Once a week take a beaten egg white and mix with 1 teaspoon milk cream found on top of boiled milk and 1 teaspoon honey. Put cotton pads soaked in orange juice over the eyes and apply the mixture on face. Relax in a darkened room for half an hour and then wash off. This will make your skin shine and help get rid of lines from around the eyes and will also make the eyes bright.

Always dress gracefully at this age. Wear saree or salwar kameez. Never follow the fashion of teenagers otherwise you will look foolish. Do not wear gaudy jewellary, go for studs or small hanging eartops. If you are interested in artificial jewellery it is better to go in for various coloured beads rather then chunky metal or plastic jewellery, but you will only look classy and elegant in real or real-looking jewellery.

Try to avoid hair dyes. Hair dyes not only dry the hair but you also start losing hair. With the result you have very scanty hair. If you want you can use henna. If you do not like the reddish colour which henna generally imparts to grey hair then have your hair highlighted. Your salt and pepper hair will really make you look glamorous. As you grow older it is better to have your hair cut short. It is easy to manage. Besides, you look younger. Long hair emphasises the wrinkles on your face, but shaft hair makes them look less noticeable. Heavily madeup older women look like tarts. For tightening the under chin you should do the following exercise regularly. Push your chin. Go out as far as it will go without following with your shoulders. Now slowly pull the chin inwards towards the throat as far as You can. Relax and do this ten times.

Keep your hair well-brushed, well groomed and wellnourished at all times. This is the time when your skin needs ample amount of grease to counteract the natural dryness of your skin. Every night apply moisturizing cream to your face, In the morning before you take your bath, massage cold cream into your face. Give yourself a facial twice a week. Mix together ¼ teaspoon each of lime juice, honey, cream of milk (cream found in boiled milk) and a few drops almond oil. Massage into the face and neck, leave on for 20 minutes and then wash off. Do not wear clothes and makeup used by teenagers. Wear clothes suitable for your age which will give you dignity and good bearing. Wear light makeup and simple jewellery.

Besides, develop a lively interest in all things and have a sense of humor at all times which will give your face a nice tender look and not a frowning cross look which adds years to your face. Go for long brisk walks. Moreover after 40 you have much more mature and dignified look than before. Therefore, keep your shoulders back hold your head high and above all keep the corners of your mouth up.
