Body Lotions and Creams
The Skin on Your Feet, legs, belly, breasts, hands, arms, and shoulders is typically drier than the skin on your face. This means a oncedaily - or even twice-daily - application of body lotion is a must for combating - and preventing - scaly patches. The great thing about body lotions today is that many are formulated with special active ingredients, such as retinol, alpha hydroxy acids, antioxidants, or sunscreens - all of which help fight visible signs of age. (Yes, you can tell a person’s age by looking at body skin.) Furthermore, body lotions also come in a range of intensities, from light lotions to rich creams.
When choosing a product, keep in mind that the lighter the consistency of the lotion, the less moisturizing power it has. Heavy creams are best for super-dry skin and seemingly always parched areas of your body, such as feet and elbows, while light lotions may be enough for your torso. Another thing to keep in mind: If you break out on your back, chest, or buttocks (don’t feel bad, many people do), choose a light lotion that contains blemishblasting ingredients such as alpha hydroxy acid or salicylic acid.
Can you use hand lotion on your body? Of course! In fact, hand lotion and body lotion are simply two different names for the same product.
